MAG-BOARD

MAG-BOARD Magnetometer Processing Board

The MAG-BOARD is the core magnetometer signal processing board used in many FG Sensors systems, including DIY magnetometer and gradiometer setups.

The board provides the electronics required to interface fluxgate magnetometer sensors such as the FG-3+ with microcontrollers, displays, and logging systems.

MAG-BOARD simplifies the development of custom magnetic field measurement systems by providing a ready-to-use signal processing platform.

Key Features

  • Designed for FG Sensors fluxgate magnetometers
  • Signal processing electronics for magnetometer systems
  • Compatible with FG-3+ sensors
  • Supports single sensor and gradiometer configurations
  • Easy integration with microcontrollers
  • Compact PCB design for embedded systems

Purpose of the MAG-BOARD

Fluxgate sensors produce signals that must be processed and interpreted before magnetic field values can be obtained.

MAG-BOARD acts as the central processing electronics of a magnetometer system.

Typical functions include:

  • sensor signal conditioning
  • measurement electronics
  • interface to control systems
  • integration with displays and logging devices

Typical System Architecture

MAG-BOARD is typically used as the central component in magnetometer systems.

Single sensor configuration:

FG-3+ Sensor → MAG-BOARD → Microcontroller / Logger

Gradiometer configuration:

Sensor A → MAG-BOARD
Sensor B → MAG-BOARD

Processing / Logger

The board processes the signals from one or more sensors and sends measurement data to the host system.

Supported Configurations

Single Sensor Systems

Used for measuring the absolute magnetic field.

Typical uses:

  • geomagnetic monitoring
  • research instruments
  • magnetic field experiments

Gradiometer Systems

MAG-BOARD can also be used with two sensors to measure magnetic gradients.

Sensor A -------- distance -------- Sensor B

The system measures the difference between the two sensors, which improves detection of local magnetic anomalies.

Typical applications:

  • metal detection
  • archaeological surveys
  • geophysical exploration

Typical Applications

Geophysical Surveys

  • magnetic anomaly detection
  • underground structure detection
  • geological exploration

Scientific Research

  • geomagnetic monitoring
  • aurora detection systems
  • space weather research

Custom Magnetometer Development

  • experimental instrumentation
  • educational projects
  • prototype sensor systems

Integration

MAG-BOARD can be integrated with:

  • microcontrollers
  • magnetometer loggers
  • custom embedded systems
  • display modules
  • sensor arrays

The board allows users to build complete magnetometer systems without designing custom signal processing electronics.
